Teaneck, Hackensack Firefighters Rescue Stranded River Kayaker

TEANECK, N.J. -- Firefighters from Teaneck and Hackensack freed a man whose kayak got stuck in the Hackensack River mud during low tide Wednesday afternoon.

Teaneck EMTs evaluated the man, who refused medical attention, after firefighters from both towns worked together using several ropes and a backboard.

Fire department boats from Bergenfield, Mahwah and New Milford were on standby.
